Klaas van der Veen

Klaas his daily work is to repackage knowledge to make it travel further.

He came to love the scientific because he needed to understand. Everything. He came to love language and the visual arts because he needed to express himself and be understood. Both traits explain why he studied art and design after a start in electrical engineering and math.

Logically, his clients are knowledge driven organisations. When ‘knowledge’ means academic precision and completeness, and ‘organisation’ means risk avoidance and lack of ownership, the information produced will never be accessible to a bigger audience, and will often be intimidating.

Klaas is a one man extension to a communications team, paving the way for a short, visually engaging, warm-blooded kind of information.

To achieve this, he combines interview, writing, poetry, illustration, design and typography skills to undo the text-only start of a project. Anything to catch ‘the short version’ and load it with beauty, energy and love, to open that door to knowledge. Let’s engage the reader. He or she needs to understand.
